THE COURSE

The Hochplatten Berglauf is one of the most traditional mountain races in the Chiemgau region and looks back on a history of more than 40 years. For the first time, the race will become part of the official Chiemgau Trail Run programme and will open the race weekend on Thursday.
Covering a distance of 4.7 kilometres and more than 550 metres of elevation gain, the course leads from the outskirts of Piesenhausen up to the Staffn-Alm below the Hochplatte summit. From the very first metre, the route climbs continuously – first on paved paths, later on varied mountain trails through the colourful autumn forests of the Chiemgau Alps.
The course requires a well-paced effort and strong climbing legs, but rewards participants with stunning views over the Achental valley and the surrounding mountains. Whether as a sporting challenge, a final fitness test before the weekend races, or a memorable opening event to the CTR weekend, the Hochplatten Berglauf offers mountain running in its purest form.
At the finish line near the Staffn-Alm, runners can enjoy a unique atmosphere before returning to the valley together.
4.7 km · 550 m+ · Tradition since 1984
IMPORTANT: Due to official requirements, weather conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances, last-minute course changes may become necessary. Any changes will be communicated in advance via the website, the race briefing, and the official event newsletter.
CAUTION! There may be short-term route changes. In any case, these will be communicated before the race, at the race briefing and in the newsletter!
The Hochplatten Berglauf starts on Thursday at 4:00 PM to ensure a safe race experience for all participants and to allow for a relaxed return to the valley using the Hochplatten cable car before nightfall. At the same time, runners can enjoy the unique autumn atmosphere of the Chiemgau Alps in the late afternoon light.
Despite being integrated into the Chiemgau Trail Run weekend, entry fees remain unchanged. Participants who additionally register for a Chiemgau Trail Run distance on Saturday will receive a 10% discount on their Saturday race entry. With this offer, we aim to create an attractive combination of traditional mountain running and modern trail running.
